And the winner of the 2013 South African Bike of the Year is… the BMW
R1200GS!
Judges were told to vote for their top six bikes over a two-day test in Gauteng. Judges tested the cream of South Africa’s biking crop at Midvaal Raceway as well as on the open road for 10km loops from the Vaal dam to Magalies.
Here are SA's top six bikes:
1 BMW R1200 GS
2 KTM 1190
3 Triumph Daytona 675
4 MV Agusta Brutale 800
5 Kawasaki Z800
6 Moto Guzzi California 1400
I haven't personally ridden the R1200 GS but I have had a ride on the 1150 which I must say I found to be a big "cluncky" piece of machine, until I put it into corner that is!
It's brilliant, it just sticks!
